So, Today my boss and coworkers and I were talking about modified people being in relationships with non modified people. My boss asked me "How come your boyfriend isn't like you?" and I started thinking.. I want to hear your stories about weather or not your significant other is modified like you are, and how you feel about it. I want to know how they feel about your choice in mods, and I encourage you to post pictures and everything!
:D I'm super excited.
Sometimes you see couples who have a similar look, and then there are people who are like me who are dating someone who is totally opposite. SHOW ME EVERYTHING!

Alternatives to a retainer for a vertical labret [17 Jul 2008|04:12pm]

bored_to_life
[ mood | determined ]

I just interviewed at a new prospective job, and they said if they were to hire me I'd have to remove my vertical labret.

I've only had it for nine months, and am no wear near ready to let go of it yet, but they also said they'd had employees try retainers, and that didn't work for some apparent reason.

I tried taking mine out yesterday just to test, and it was difficult to get it back in after an hour and a half. So just keeping it out for shifts isn't an option.

I was trying to think of some kind of acrylic cord or something I could buy (perhaps like fishing line or round lanyard lace or something) to put in my piercing and cut to size daily, that I could just push out at the end of my shift in favor of a bar.

I really need the job, so I'm clearly going to have to try and figure something out if they hire me.
My piercing is a 16g, I believe 7/16" curved barbell. Any ideas/suggestions?

I'm hoping I don't have to just suck it up and let it heal.

Monroe!!!!!!! [13 Jul 2008|06:37pm]

Monroe piercings.

I'm getting my monroe piercing for my birthday (Wednesday July 16th) and my work has a strict dress code that does not permit such a piercing. SOOOO...

I want to get pierced with 18g...do you think that's do-able? I was told by one person that it is NOT.
I also want to know if I can cover this somehow with make up but avoid infection...?
I thought of maybe putting a small piece of band aid over it and then caking the make up on over that? I don't know. Any tips?

Belly button piercing [18 Mar 2008|09:45pm]

crashley07
Okay, so, last June I got my belly button pierced.  I've been able to keep up with the cleaning and it hasn't gotten infected.  But this last month, I have this ugly little brownish/green growth near the hole, and it's extremely sore!  So, is it infected?  How do I make the gross thing go away?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

New [30 Jan 2008|11:07am]

I'm new, not only to this community, but also pretty new to body piercing in general. I have two holes in my lobes, and so far my only other piercing is my navel, which I got done just over a month ago.

I have metal allergies, and I've had issues with both of my lobe piercings, one which I got when I was about 5, the other just over a year ago. And in general my skin is really sensitive, things like changing deodorant brands or not washing my sheets very frequently will give me rashes. So I believe my body might have an issue with the steel barbell in my navel piercing. It isn't really crusty or gross-looking, it just looks red and kind of dry, and it itches quite a bit. It doesn't really hurt, and most of the time it doesn't bother me at all, but sometimes it gets really annoying and itchy.

So I ordered an internally threaded titanium barbell today, and I'm hoping that once I receive it and put it in that it will help, although I know it can take months and months for navel piercings to heal.

I guess I'm just looking for some feedback, do you guys think that I'm having an issue with the jewelry or do you think the piercing is just being stubborn, or a little of both?

Where to begin? [30 Jan 2008|12:16am]

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a starter piercing kit if you think there are any and if not why not? I don't know any pros so I'd like to start on myself and some friends and maybe branch out from there. I've been self injecting medication for years so I'm very comfortable with needles and I figure why not poke others maybe for money and fun one day.

[sigh] Need help determining gagues and help with eyebrow [14 Dec 2007|09:45am]

bella_cheval
Lurker here coming out of the shadows needing a bit of help. What is the standard way of figuring out what gage your jewelry is? I think my nose is pierced with a 16g but I absolutely forget what my eyebrow was pierced with.

Second question---how do I change the balls on the ends of my eyebrow piercing? Do I need pliers or can I do it with my fingers? I believe the barbell is internally threaded but once again I'm not sure [such is the JOY of growing older, gaaahh].

Many thanks in advance!

Anti-eyebrowish thing? [08 Dec 2007|12:24am]

bored_to_life
I want to get an anti-eyebrow a little higher than they're usually placed, but because the area is so delicate, I'm curious as to weather y'all think it's possible or not.

Think it's possible?
I'ma ask my piercer on my next day off.

New Vertical Labret [27 Oct 2007|09:53pm]

bored_to_life
I got a vertical labret last week (it's a week old tomorrow).
I've been doing my soaks, and I just went in and talked to a piercer today (not the one I went to, but another, more reputable place), and they told me it'd be okay to put some natural vegan chapstick on my lips.
And that's cool.

But Halloween is coming up this week, and I was told not to wear any makeup for 8-10 weeks.

All I really want to use is some Bare Minerals and a little eyeliner.
I have natural (burt's bees) lipstick, but I'm fine with chapstick.

If I keep up my soaks, and keep off the piercing as much as possible when applying the Bare Minerals, do you think it'll be okay?
Or should I not push it?

Nipple Piercing Question [11 Oct 2007|10:13pm]

zaneta
Hi,

I went to get my nipple pierced a couple years ago now and i was warned off doing it as i have introverted nipples. The piercer said that it can get really uncomfortable.

My question is, for those out there that have have their nipple pieced and have introverted nipples, is it so bad and uncomfortable?

I just would love to get another piercing, but as i work for a government place i need to be a little more conservative when it comes to deciding what to poke at. though i do already have my nose done (little cute stud, don't even notice it), two times in my ears and my belly. I did try to get my eye brow down when i was younger but it grew out twice, so don't want to try that again.

As I have been thinking about getting (sorry not sure of the terms) a few in my back that i would be able to lace up, but i'm scared i would spend all that money and find that it wants to grow out like my eye brow.

Has anyone had similar experiences with lots of their piercings growing out on them?

Re: Infection [13 Sep 2007|07:26pm]

Hey all! Just a quick question about new piercings. About how long-ish until it might be safe to say you're clear from immediate chance of infection? I recently got my nipples pierced (with your help and guidance, haha), and so far they're healing beautifully. My stumbling block in deciding to get it was the chance of infection. How long must I be fervently paranoid about infecting them and needed my breasts chopped off? :] I can imagine that they can always get infected somehow, but, is it just during the first few months (initial healing time) or much longer that the risk is especially high? Thanks for your experience and wisdom!

How easy is it to see nipple piercings through clothing? I'm female, so... with/without a bra, etc.?

Neither here nor there [07 Jul 2007|03:14pm]

I'm seriously kicking around the idea of getting my nipples pierced for my 20th birthday at the end of August. I currently live in Michigan and I'll be moving to Boston for college in September, so my question is this:

Should I get myself pierced by a piercer here in Michigan, or wait until I move to Boston?

I guess just in case something goes wrong, if I get pierced in Boston, I'll have a little more of a "relationship" with the piercer. But how much does that matter? If I've got questions I can surely go to any piercer I like, right?

This would be my first serious modification, so, if this is a stupid question, please excuse it and give me points for trying ;D

Okay, so I got my belly button pierced about 3 weeks ago.  It's my 7th piercing, so I'm used to the kind of care and all that crap.  Well, the top of it is a little red around the ball.  Is that normal?
